EX240 Upper Intermediate Course

This course aims to strengthen and expand students’ reading, speaking and writing skills so they can express themselves better.

Learning Outcome:CEFR Upper A2
By the end of this course, students should be able to:

  • Read and understand simple texts that fall under the DRA 30 or Lexile 500 reading level
  • Share their thoughts and feelings about topics they are interested in
  • Plan and present for 1 minute on a topic in front of the class
  • Write a short weekly book review using 40 words or more
  • Write up to 90 words or more on a variety of texts

Writing
The writing section introduces a variety of writing styles throughout the year. Students are taught to plan their writing piece and are challenged to write up to 90 words or more independently.

Speaking
There are two main areas of speaking skills that thiscourse will target:(1) presentation skills,and(2) conversation skills. Thefocus alternates betweeneach term.
