Program
Overview

Explorers courses are All-English courses specially designed for students with high English fluency, such as returnees or students who have studied at an international school.
Explorers provides a dynamic English classroom environment where students can develop their communication skills and cognitive skills (e.g. critical thinking, creative thinking, problem solving, etc.) .
As an English program that adopts the four-skills approach, there are ample opportunities for students to polish their listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills through a wide variety of carefully crafted classroom activities throughout the program as well.

概要

基本的に授業のすべてを英語で運営するカリキュラムです。インターナショナル・キンダーガーテン卒園生や、海外帰国子女の英語力を保持、向上することを目指す小学１年生から小学４年生を対象としたプログラムです。

※CEFRとは外国語の学習・教授・評価のための「ヨーロッパ言語共通参照枠」のことで、欧州内外で広範に使用されています。

Reading Journals

In each term, students are expected to read a certain number of books and write book reviews for them.
The Reading Journals will make it easier for students to understand what writing a book review means, and they will also show students how they can write a good book review one step at a time.
To encourage students to read more, students may borrow up to 2 books per week from the library. Aside from that, students are rewarded with a gift when they reach specific checkpoints.

Speech Contest

J PREP Explorers will hold a Speech Contest once every year. There will be a preliminary round at the end of Term C to select a representative from each class to be a finalist for the event.
Students will work on creating their own speeches and apply the presentation skills they learned in class. As guardians of finalists are invited to the Speech Contest, this is a great opportunity to witness first-hand the hard work students have put into delivering a memorable presentation.

Adeline Tay

It has been an absolute pleasure to develop the materials for the classes of the Explorers track and to teach the classes as well. Being able to observe how the students respond to the materials first-hand has proved to be beneficial as I am now able to consider the feedback received and improve on the course to better address the needs of the students.
Whether we are discussing what the different ways of using a plastic bottle are, or how a cob is different from a pen, there is rarely a dull moment as every student openly shares their thoughts with the class.
It is great to see how different students come together, and take away not just the academic and language skills they need, but also the interpersonal skills as well.
