EX280 Advanced Course

This is a 2.5-hour All-English class that covers intermediate grammar, independent reading, writing, presentation and conversational skills.
This course aims to encourage critical thinking in addition to reinforcing the core English skills (i.e. listening, reading, speaking, and writing).
Students are expected to build their ability to describe experiences, events, plans, and opinions.
During the reading section at this level, students are expected to engage in in-class discussions based on the weekly independent reading assignments.
In addition, students are required to read at least 5 additional books of their choice per term from the library.
The class includes a mini debate-style discussion every week whereby students are assigned to a stance which they have to research about at home and then defend their statement in class against their classmates.
In terms of class presentations, there will be a heavier emphasis on the quality of the content, and the delivery of the message.
At this level, students are also expected to spend at least 45 minutes a day at home to work on the homework assigned and to prepare for the weekly quizzes.
Students are able to access Online Study App where they can practice weekly grammar, vocabulary and they can improve their pronunciation through weekly video submissions.

Online Study App
For International Kindergarten graduates and students returning after living abroad, a one-time weekly classroom lesson is insufficient for maintaining, let alone improving English skills.
In order to create an enjoyable atmosphere interacting with English outside of class time, we developed an original app which students can use to review grammar and vocabulary learned in class, and even practice for upcoming quizzes from home.
